We spent a very interesting evening on Friday tasing 20 of the new vintage (2009) Barbaresco wines from many of the well known producers in the region. The event was held in Neive as part of a 3-week event to mark the new vintage’s release. All the wines were tasted “blind” so that no-one would be influenced by the producer’s name in their assessment. The overall verdict was that the wines were all of a similar standard with no real stars amongst them this time. Of course its really way too soon to be able to truly judge these wines as some of them may not have been bottled that long ago and will need more time to mature.
